Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a treatment method that has been proven to be effective in treating children with autism and related developmental disorders.
At Hennepin Autism Center we use evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. ABA is based on the science of learning and behavior to help children with autism overcome challenging behaviors and develop vital social skills that can be useful in real world situations.
The aim of ABA is to increase behaviors that are helpful and decrease unsafe behaviors or behaviors that impact learning. The goals and objectives are individualized to improve social interaction/communication, improve memory, concentration and attention span, play skills, safety skills, daily living skills, & reduce barriers to learning.
Our ABA specialists use discrete trail training method by teaching each child through one-on-one teaching environment in which tasks are broken down and taught in small, doable increment or sections. We also use repetition, reinforcement, and altering antecedent stimuli or preventing negative behaviors by offering choices.
Our goal is to continuously support the child to succeed with their learned skill so that they can use this mastered skill in different settings throughout their life.
ABA services include intake assessment to determine current abilities, individualized goals and objectives based on assessment and caretaker’s feedback and direct interventions using evidence-based methods. At Hennepin Autism Center we utilize data driven responsive system that ensures our therapists and professionals continuously monitor, and update treatment to support positive outcomes. All therapy is supervised by a team of Behavioral Therapy Professionals who conduct assessments, develop programming, and supervise treatment consistently.
